music video monday ~ 15

Saw St. Vincent in concert last evening at Stage AE in Pittsburgh. Quite the performer. Since hearing her album "Strange Mercy", I've been a fan. After I learned that she co-wrote Taylor Swift's song "Cruel Summer", I became a bit more intrigued. When an artist is capable of creating something extremely mainstream, I tend to look at their style and efforts a bit more closely, because it is clear to me that they are choosing to do what they do, and how they do it, as a performer instead of watering it down in search of the largest audience possible. The video I chose today – the song "Cruel", video directed by Terri Timely – shows that St. Vincent does not quite feel like fitting in. She ain't into conforming. Rad.

On Thursdays, he recommends a book, movie, show, art piece, or link to some dusty corner of the internet that he believes either 1.) adds to the human experience, or 2.) serves as a coping mechanism in the year 2025. Note: this is not, and never will be, self-help content.
