Forgive the kids, for they don't know how to live

Saw St. Vincent in concert last evening at Stage AE in Pittsburgh. Quite the performer. Since hearing her album "Strange Mercy", I've been a fan. After I learned that she co-wrote Taylor Swift's song "Cruel Summer", I became a bit more intrigued. When an artist is capable of creating something extremely mainstream, I tend to look at their style and efforts a bit more closely, because it is clear to me that they are choosing to do what they do, and how they do it, as a performer instead of watering it down in search of the largest audience possible. The video I chose today – the song "Cruel", video directed by Terri Timely – shows that St. Vincent does not quite feel like fitting in. She ain't into conforming. Rad.
