Afterlife, oh my God, what an awful word

Dreams, man. Dreams.

Part-short film, part-music video, I've always loved the video for "Afterlife" by Arcade Fire and Emily Kai Bock for how it knits together the subconscious of three men of different ages and how they are connected by the matriarch in their (or no longer in their) lives. The teenager walking by the young women to get a better view of the ritual in the pool is an especially intriguing visual for me. The use of black-and-white footage and the industrial location all cement the viewing experience for me. Plus, it's a pretty good song with a catchy line or two that will be stuck in my head the rest of the day: "Oh, when love is gone / where does it go? / Where does it go?"

We scream and shout 'till we work it out
Oh, when love is gone / Where does it go?

Arcade Fire - "Afterlife" (Dir. Emily Kai Bock)

On Thursdays, he recommends a book, movie, show, art piece, or link to some dusty corner of the internet that he believes either 1.) adds to the human experience, or 2.) serves as a coping mechanism in the year 2025.
