music video monday ~ 34
My biggest enemy is me / Pop a 911

Happy Monday.

When I first watched this video, I was like, "Huh, that really looks like that movie The Fall."

The Fall (Dir. Tarsem Singh) movie poster

Turns out, the same director did both: Tarsem Singh. (His commercial reels can be seen here if you want to see more bonkers visuals. It's kind of a wormhole.) So, I found myself watching a Lady Gaga video for a song I didn't really like all that much multiple times. The locations, makeup, hair, and costumes – and weirdness – are worth a watch. Stick around for the twist ending if you want all of it partially explained. It's teased in so many ways via some pretty fun costumes, props, and set dressing: like a low-rent mural and that shiny gilded prop in the top image. Here's some pics of the headgear she wears:

Turning up emotional faders / Keep repeating self-hating phrases
Keep my dolls inside diamond boxes / Save 'em 'til I know I'm gon' drop this

Neat. The end.

indoor animal is curated by a human: Tim Papciak. On Mondays, he shares one link to one music video to help spark creativity in himself and in other creative types. On Thursdays, he recommends a book, movie, show, art piece, or link to some dusty corner of the internet that he believes either 1.) adds to the human experience, or 2.) serves as a coping mechanism in the year 2025. Note: this is not, and never will be, self-help content.
